Hi,
Noted the history about a 80 years old male having tightness in throat similar to to what might experience on going outside in extreme cold, has stents in heart and Cardiologist says this is not the reason. Sort of a
shortness of breath.
The reason loos to be intolerance to something in atmosphere causing an
allergy.
Aging causes reduced function of all organs and can be the reason for the same.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult an ENT Surgeon for ENT
Endoscopy to find out whether there is any problems in nose, throat or larynx.
If required
CT scan of neck and thorax to rule out any mass can help.
Sometimes the changes in
cervical spine causing projection behind larynx can cause similar problems.
Once the cause is found then the symptoms can be treated well.
Pulmonary function tests can help further.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
