What Causes Throbbing Pain Below The Rib Cage After Eating?

I am having a tweaking feeling in the side of my throat. Throbbing under my rib cage near the front especially after eating. I have been diagnosed a year ago with gastritis and eroded esophagus. And feel a shortness in breath the last couple days and my cough has got worse. Should I go to an emergency room or wait for an appointment with my Dr?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* It seems an acute exacerbation of underlying gastritis with reflux associated throat complains.

My guidelines at present

- no need of ER visit for next 24 hours , if following measures do help
- gargles with salted lukewarm water added epsom salt
- deep breathing exercises
- local application of analgesic gel or cream, spray
- anti inflammatory medications as diclofenac, etoricoxib or tramadol hydrochloride after meals if no history of drug sensitivity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
