Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Throbbing Pain In Head And Ringing In Ears?
i am experiencing throbbing in my head and ringing in my ears. I recently saw a neurologist due to an incident I had on June 16(which i had numerous CAT scans, all returned normal) I came very close to passing out and my BP was 185/120. My blood pressure had stabilized but the symptoms have gotten worse. I had my yearly physical last week and the doctor was amazed on the test results. Told me to keep up the good work. I have had throbbing in my ears on and off but not consistently everyday for the most part of the day. In your opinion, should I see a neurologist, ENT, primary etc?
Based on the history you have shared, you should seek an opinion from ENT specialist to examine for few maneuvers to rule out Meniere's disease or BPPV. Both can be controlled with medications. Neurological examination especially for nystagmus and cerebellar signs may be needed. It's good that scans were normal but endocrine work ups with thyroid and electrolytes may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
