What Causes Thrush In Mouth After Taking Advair For Asthma?
hello i had asthma ever since i was 12 i am 49 now and it seems to be getting worse i always run out of my inhaler before it is due i have a nebulizer but i cant bring that with me all the time i take advair but i get thrush with that i rinse my mouth really well to so do you think i could have copd or something, julie

As per your complain thrush in mouth after taking Advair inhaler that contains Fluticasone Propionate as active ingredient and it is a steroid.. Steroid work by suppressing the immunity or resistance of the body and when the resistance is low certain organisms like yeast that are opportunistic organisms and multiply quickly when the body resistance gets lowered.. This is the cause for you to get thrush after using Advair and not due to COPD.. I would suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can give a low potency steroid inhaler for relief.. As for thrush you can gargle with Nystatin mouthwash, suck Clotrimazole lozenges and take plenty of probiotics like Yoghurt..
