Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have 6 benign nodules on my thyroid. I had a scan and uptake and biopsy done. The results were benign but the doctor said that since two were fairly large and did not absorb the iodine normally. After some discussion the doctor has given me the option of having my thyroid removed or coming in periodically for a followup. Is this advisable? Should I see an endocrinolist

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The bigger nodules do need close observation and investigations guided by a surgeon to exclude a sudden increase in its size & pattern. An endocrinologist would help in maintenance of hormonal levels in body &overall normal body functions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
