Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been taking cytomel to overcome thyroid resistance. I m 5 weeks in and progress is slow, contrary to what the drug says. So is the body only accepting a little at a time? Also I think to keep stability my body stores and uses this hormone whenever it likes. If so how is t3 stored when it is free t3 I m taking?
The Cytomel is used with content as Liothyronine sodium and widely prescribed for conditions of low level thyroid hormone deficiency states. It may be possible that your thyroid deficiency is not of mild amount and may require addition of Synthroid above this. Kindly share your thyroid hormone profile with free T 3, T 4 and TSH levels that of before treatment and after treatment if available for better healthy discussion ahead.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
