Have been burping quite a lot and hence causes reflux. Tried to vomit but can t. Could this due to stress or a bacterial infection?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
It could be stress. some problems with underlying psychological stress can be manifested as physical problems in this case feeling something in the throat. It could definitively be stress. Try relaxation techniques and exercises. This could help. This could be hypochondriasis which is just one way the body expresses its psychological problems as physical illness. Of course gastro-esophageal reflux can mimic this symptoms. Just to rule out any physical illness you could see a doctor to check in your throat. This would just ensure nothing serious is present. as of Hypochonriasis it will net harm you because it is psychological, it will not kill you, it will not harm you.
However it is important to practice relaxation techniques, exercices, seek help from a therapist for stress management, see your doctor very often. Seeing the doctor often can cost money but it increases reassurance in you that nothing is wrong at the same time the therapist will help with stress management and eventually you will be worry free.
