What Causes Tight Squeezing Feeling In Chest?

Hi...I ve been having a kind of tight feeling in my chest, kind of like squeezing, and it makes kind of a reaction of a cough, and my heart races. I ve had EKG, Echo and they were all fine. I am 52 y/o female, overweight, with Limb Girdle MD, so am pretty sedentary, but do walk in my home using a walker. Do my own cooking and laundry, and small other things. Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
Since you have ruled out cardiac causes for your chest symptoms, I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray and PFT ( PULMONARY FUNCTION TEST ).
Squeezing in chest , cough and rapid heart rate can be seen in bronchitis and pneumonia.
So PFT is necessary to rule out bronchitis and chest x ray is needed to rule out pneumonia.
If both of these are normal than you should get done CBC ( Complete Blood Count ) to rule out anemia as this can also cause similar symptoms.
If this is also normal than your symptoms must be related to stress and anxiety. So better to avoid tension, be relax and calm.
