What Causes Tightness And Shooting Pain Near Ribcage While Having Food Allergy?

51 years old, post-menopausal woman with severe food allergies (rapid heartbeat, throat swelling, exhaustion for a week). I have had acid reflux most of my life which mostly resolved upon removal of certain foods from diet, but it has been acting up every night for the last few weeks. The last two days I have had pain between breasts when I swallow food, bouts of nausea, bouts of feeling dizzy, hot flashes, and a tightness with some shooting pains near my right ribcage (liver, gallbladder, stomach, small intestine?), and I have been feeling very exhausted. Concerned about possible ulcer or erosion of my esophagus or gallbladder issue, but this could be food allergy related. Any thoughts

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the tightness and shooting pain near rib cage do indicate possible issue of severe gastritis, stomach ulcer most likely. The most important initial diagnostic work up is an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis as non invasive measure followed by upper GI endoscopy as invasive measure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
