What Causes Tightness In Chest Along With Hoarse Voice And Dry Cough?
Hello, I have been experiencing never ending drainage into my throat. My throat is sore, sometimes it spasms and causes pain which does not last long. I have a hoarse voice and my chest feels tight. I have a dry cough. I went to the doctor and he told me I had acid reflux when I sleep. I have been taking Prilosec OTC but it is not helping. Would you be so kind and let me know if you have any suggestions regarding this condition. Thank you so much. marie
Drainage into the throat can be related to post nasal drip of mucus. This is one of the common causes.
It is most commonly related to allergies though acute infection (cough/cold) can also cause this problem. Allergies can occur to food, drinks, dust, pollen, animals, chemicals (Eg soap, detergents etc).
The use of an antihistamine decongestant combination may help, these are over the counter. eg clartine d,, allegra d, benadryl d, zyrtec d
If the source is known then reducing exposure would also help.
If these are not enough then may also need a nasal spray.
I hope this helps
