Understanding your concern. As per your query you have tightness in chest along with pain in ribs. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like broken ribs , injuries to the chest , rib fracture , inflamed lining of the lungs , muscle spasms or inflamed rib cartilage . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination Doctor will examine physically or may order chest x-ray or CT scan . Doctor may prescribe breathing exercises to help you breathe more deeply because shallow breathing can put you at risk of developing pneumonia. Doctor may use compression wraps elastic bandages that you can wrap around your chest to help splint and immobilize the area.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
