What Causes Tightness In Chest Along With Panic Attacks Post Thyroidectomy?
Hi, I have been suffering with my chest for quite a while now, 2 years ago I had a total thyroidectomy and since this I have suffered panic attacks. I had my last attack months ago but still my chest is tight when breathing and sometimes I feel I can t get enough air in my lungs. I am startled very easily during the night which can sometimes trigger a panic attack. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I have also been suffering with really bad tiredness to which I ve had blood tests and iron levels and vitamin b12 is normal however, my folic acid is low. Thanks
I went through your details. A thyroidectomy is an operation that involves the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. Surgeons often perform a thyroidectomy when a patient has thyroid cancer or some other condition of the thyroid gland (such as hyperthyroidism) or goiter. In your case, after the surgery the level of TSH must have gone up resulting in panic. I suggest to consult an endocrinologist.
