What Causes Tightness In The Chest Along With Cramps Below The Ribs?

Been to the er twice. Two normal ekgs and tropinins all normal. According to my physician and er docs I have gerd. Thetightness in my chest is almost costant. Tonight i have severe cramping below my ribs on both sides. I m on a low dose of xanax for anxiety. It helps but Im still uncomfortable. Could I have an undiagnosed blockage or parasite? I ve also had chest xrays which were negative. Diahrrea for at least a week with about a 15 poind weight loss. Thanks for any insight.

Hi,

If the EKG was done during the pain, it has a high utility. Also, heart pain goes up and down with the use of the heart. AND reflux disease gives pain through the same nerves as the heart and they are basically indistinguishable. A stress test might add more evidence (against heart). OR proton pump inhibitors are quite good for all the gastrointestinal causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
