What Causes Tightness In The Chest And Severe Cough?
Nov 6th I went to urgent care for chest tightness and extreme cough. Was diagnosed with bronchitis and given 5 day azythromycin and week steroids. Was back in he 13th for bad wheezing and shortness of breathe. For the past week my wheezing is daily (on symbicort and albuterol inhaler and just finished 2 weeks of steroids) Now tonight I m having pain in my upper back. I can also hear wheezing in my lungs with a stethoscope. Can bronchitis last this long? Or does this sound like something else?
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. I appreciate your concern. Now that you are not improving, following investigations are needed:
-Auscultation by doctor -Chest x ray digital -CBC -Spirometry to assess severity of your condition
Here if wheezing is more, then nebulization with salbutamol and budesonide respule is given. And then foracort or suitable ipratropium bromide containing inhaler is prescribed. Sputum culture can be done if infection by bacteria suspected. If eosinophila is present then ALLEGRAM drug is prescribed. Consult pulmonologoist for examination with keeping all this in mind.
Hope your concern is solved. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
