What Causes Tingling And Burning Sensation On The Buttocks?

I am experiencing tingling, numbness, & mild burning in the areas where I sit down for the past 6 to 8 weeks. I ran it by my family physician recently. I ve had BPH for several years & take FloMax for this. We cut back from two to one FloMax about 18 months ago due to dizziness that may have been a side effect. The dizziness resolved & the BPH symptoms were manageable. Physician took blood to check PSA at the recent appointment & it was well within normal range. He recommended going back to two FloMax to see if this might help w/ the tingling. I have done this for 4 weeks but the tingling persists. Physician said next step would be referral to a urologist and/or imaging tests. He commented the tingling symptom is odd in this location. I would say that it seems odd as well but worry it could be a sign of something serious. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to sciatica pain. I suggest to do an X-ray of the colon for further evaluation. Meanwhile,I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Voltaren to treat the symptoms. Gentle stretching exercises can also be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
