What Causes Tingling And Numbness In The Hand Along With Headache?

We have at lived at 9400’ elevation for 7 months now. But frequent lightheaded and dizziness is still an ongoing issue for me. 59 year good health female. I do have migraines and Botox has helped there. I just experienced numbness and tingling in left hand along with a headache. I had to stop and rest and took 2 aspirins. Tingling is easing but have a residual headache with nausea.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dizziness can occur at higher altitudes since oxygen is not effectively taken up by the body in higher altitudes. However, after a few months of living in higher altitudes, your body must have acclimatized to this. Since you are also complaining of tingling along with headache, it is not concerning for transient ischemic attack or mini-stroke. Please follow up with the urgent care to undergo CT brain and carotid Doppler study to assess blood flow to the brain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
