Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I broke my ankle about ten days ago and had surgery the following day. I have been icing and keeping it elevated, but I seem to be dealing with a lot of tingling and numbness in my toes. Is this a major concern? Is there anything one can do to help the situation?
You should inform your surgeon who did the surgery. It can be that either a nerve is compressed due to swelling or might have been damaged during the surgery.
If it is due to swelling then the pain would subside with swelling but if it has bee damaged then the symptoms might last for some time. You might also need to go through EMG studies.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Humaira Naerm, Cosmetic & Plastic Surgeon
