Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my left big toe for the last month. I removed the nail polish after about 3 weeks and noticed it is blueish black under the nail bed. There is no pain or redness just uncomfortable numbers and tingling at touch on my outer big toe.
Numbness of the toes generally is a result of conditions that affects the nerves and/or blood vessels that supply the foot. Numbness of the toes is often associated with tingling. This is referred to as paresthesia of the toes. The most common cause of toe numbness is direct compression of the nerves of the foot from footwear
Numbness of the toe can occur because of injury to the foot, nerve damage (neuropathy), and poor circulation to the foot (such as with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease). Numbness to the foot can also be caused by irritation of nerves in the low back with radiculopathy
Suggest you check your sugar levels and avoid any compressing foot care if it is hurting you. massage the affected part with oil/glycerin. Soak the toe in luke warm water
Wish you good health
Regards
Dr Sridhar K
