Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Based on the symptoms, I would like to rule out
hypoglycemia and
electrolyte imbalance.
Working for long hours in the heat can predispose to
dehydration.
I recommend :
-an oral rehydration solution like Gatorade or electral.
-adequate Hydration and normalizing body temperature if high.
-his pulse and oxygen levels are normal.
If he hasn't eaten much that day, he should have some glucose (included in Gatorade) and proper food once he is able to.
This should resolve in 6-8 hours. Fatigue may persist for a day or 2.
If the
diarrhea is not worsening and is self controlled no need for further treatment except for proper Hydration.
If it persists more than three days, I recommend :
-a physician consult
-probiotics
-
zinc supplement (one a day)
-antibiotics, if necessary
- soft bland diet
-avoid sugar and milk and juice
-avoid caffeine and carbonated drinks and spicy /oily food
Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you both good health
