My son accidentally sprayed an outside electrical outlet with water, and not thinking I went to wipe the water off. Doing this caused my to receive and electrical shock, it started at the tip of my finger that touched the outlet travele up my arms and down through my feet. I was standing in water with wet get and a pair of thick rubber soled sandals. I sort of went into tunnel vision and all sound went away for the brief second I was being shocked. It s been about a hour and my arms still feel tingly, should I be worried or see a dr?

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Arun's Response
Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that once you have shocked with electricity some kind of tingling in hand will persist, but do not worry it will go by it self. Give some time for tingling. The major cause of death by electric shock is arrhythmia of heart. If you find that you have some kind of heart beating irregularity I advice you to visit doctor. If you have any wound on finger, I advice to apply antibiotics, analgesics, and local betadine ointment. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Thanx. Dr. Arun Tank
