What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Balls Of The Feet?
tingling / slight numbness in balls of both feet (bottoms) and toes (bottom and tops). did have both knees replaced in 2015. talked to my knee surgeon and he indicated it might be from the surgery or it might not be. he didn t seemed to concerned as it might be from walking differently after the surgery (more pressure being put on my forward feet (I also started using orthopedic inserts in2015 for supination). Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Numbness is usually to the nerves that supply a particular area. Abnormal function of the nerves can cause a lot of different sensations such as tingling, numbness, stinging, burning etc.It can be temporary or permanent. It is not usual, after a surgical procedure for there to be some nerve damage because the skin and underlying tissues have to be cut during surgery. In many cases, the nerves repair themselves though this can take a long period of time. There are medications that can help reduce the numbness that you are experiencing eg tegretol, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, gabapentin, lyrica.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
