What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Feet Along With Back Pain?

Good Evening, I am having a lot of pain that starts in my back and leads to my extremities. In both feet, there is tingling and numbness and now that is starting to go down the back of my arms to my hands. There are times that it feels like my legs are not going to work when I am walking and with every step, there is sharp, burning pain, I have been taking every OTC medication that I can find (even random home remedies) and there is no relief. I have not fallen or anything recently and it seem to get worse every day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for the query.
This could be a condition called as radiculitis or sciatica, where the pain starts from lower back radiating pain to the lower extremities. As sciatic nerve is irritated because of compression or injury or any other it is causing tingling and numbness. If the same symptoms is present in upper limbs then there might be cause like compression of nerves supplying to arm, forearm and hand.
1) Consult a doctor immediately and get possible diagnostic tests to rule out diabetes mellitus or any pathology with vertebral column or spinal cord (MRI/CT scan)
2) Injections of Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg on alternate days for 1 month followed by capsules of methylcobalamin 1500 mcg with multivitamin combination
3) Tablets of Pregabalin 75 mg + Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg twice daily would help you to reduce numbness, tingling, burning pain due to neuropathy (if this combination is considered then multivitamin with methycobalamin may not be required)
4) Neuropathy filament test is required

Hope this answers your query, kindly meet a neurologist for detailed check up and evaluation.
