Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness In The Toes?
I have what I would call tingling or occasional numbness in a couple toes of one foot. I have worked the same job in retail and am on my feet up to 8 hours a day and I regularly walk 3-5 miles a day pursuant to accomplishing my job. It is a big-box warehouse store.
Tingling and numbness in toes is an effect of peripheral nerve difference. It may have different causes like inflammation of the root of the nerve from the vertebral column, traumatic injury of the nerve ( like for example from trauma or even from using high heels for long time or very flat shoes) , polyneuropathy from systemic diseases (diabetes, anemia) which in your case is less possible as it tends to be symmetrical in both feet. You need to perform a conduction nerve study to discover the level of the damage, and in relation to the result, you may need to do other tests or take the appropriate medication or treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Olsi Taka
