What Causes Tingling Sensation And Numbness On The Lower Lip?
last night I had tingling and numbness on the left side of my bottom lip and a little tingling in my tongue. It went away after awhile and then returned 4 or 5 more times before I went to bed.. this morning it reoccurred a few times , no worse than last night . I am 70 years old and take Celexa, and thyroid medication (the big long L one). I take melatonin at night to help me sleep. I didn t eat anything unusual or different yesterday but I did take a long bath with bath salts and a bath bomb prior to this happening
Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tingling and numbness of left side of lower lip and tingling of tongue that comes and goes can be due to a number of causes like: Allergic reaction, nutritional deficiency, food allergy, side effects of medication, low blood sugar levels, hyperventilation, etc. At times it can be due to Transient Ischaemic attack if it is associated with other symptoms. So if the symptoms worsen or there are some other symptoms that you experience like weakness, tingling or numbness of one side of limbs, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, etc., then immediately consult an emergency department and get evaluated. For now just keep a watch over the symptoms and take vitamin B complex.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
