What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Legs And Insomnia While Having Hypothyroidism?
I have hypothyroidism, in addition to fibromyalgia and a heart condition. What concerns me mostly at this time is having issues with tingling in legs causing difficulty sleeping and inability to feel warm. I find myself constantly needing to drink hot liquids to stay comfortably warm but that seems to be causing a problem with overactive bladder. Could It possibly be anemia which is causing my inability to feel comfortably warm?
Hypothyroidism itself causes cold intolerance. So one feels cold. Most important is to control hypothyroidism effectively, with adequate dose of Levothyroxine, based on body weight, T4 and TSH levels. If TSH is maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L, then most symptoms related to hypothyroidism are in check. As regards tingling and numbness in the lower limbs, it is better to get blood glucose checked to see if there is diabetes, because it can cause peripheral neuritis or neuropathy. Drugs like Methylcobalamine, Lipoleic acid and folic acid have been found to be beneficial.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
