What Causes Tinnitus Early In The Morning?

I have a form of pulsating tinnitus, which only occurs in early AM (2-4) I m on a series of BP meds, and have been taking BP medication for over 10 years. The noise is never present during the day, and usually disappears if I sleep somewhat upright. I ve had a carotid Doppler test which was okay, and am scheduled for an auditory test next month. The only tinnitus problem I ve ever had was a Eustacian tube issue over 20 years ago. Any thoughts?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tinnitus could be from ear infection or high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is under control with medication than otological causes should be ruled out by otoscopy ear examination and audiometry testing. Impacted wax, thyroid problem, ear infection etc also some other causes. Tinnitus masker and reassurance will also be beneficial in your case. You can revert back with reports for giving more comment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
