Help... this is my history, what could be causing my problems? Facial History Since childhood • ‘self-diagnosed’ Tinnitus (was always saying that I could here the TV making a high pitched noise when it was on standby in the quiet classroom) most noticeable at bedtime. • Regular migraines & headaches • Constant need to equalise pressure in my ears (can’t remember when it started but it happens even on short simple car journeys, I have to equalise pressure several times.) • Being unable to judge how loud I am speaking (family regularly had to tell me to quiet down because I’m speaking too loud in normal conversation) • Being unable to hear what people are saying when there is background noise (constantly having to ask people to repeat themselves) • Unable to breath properly through my nose, causing me to have to wake up regularly through out the night for a drink. • Constant need to raise my eyebrows to open my eyes wider. • Occasional blocking of saliva duct beneath tongue. 2005 – 2008 • Dental pain, jaw ache (attributed to wisdom teeth by dentist) Nov 2007 • Septoplasty (Hereford County Hospital) – 3 night admission due to post op bleeding Aug 2008 • Revision Septoplasty (Hereford County Hospital) – 1 night precautional stay Dec 2009 • Right sided facial/jaw pain/ear ache (ongoing) Jan 2010 • Labyrinthitus – nausea, spinning and earache ?Aug 2010 • Referred to MaxFax dept for jaw pain (Hereford County Hospital) diagnosed with TMJ, no medication prescribed, relaxation techniques discussed. Oct 2010 • Labyrinthitis – spinning & earache (3-4days) Nov 2010 • Cold leading to Sinusitis (2 weeks) followed by norovirus (1week) Jan 2011 • Labyrinthitis – spinning & earache (2 weeks) Feb 2011 • Very mild cold leading to ?sinusitis, facial pressure and ache around the eyes, very dry nose, congested feeling (2-3 weeks before attending GP) 28/02 • GP appointment, put on 2 week course of Amoxicillin for ?sinusitis 08/03 16:00-22:00 • Ongoing facial ache around the eyes. • Right sided jaw/ear ache running down neck and up to temple. • Took one soluble Solpadine at onset - which had no effect, • Took two soluble Solpadine Max at 7pm which dulled the pain enough to go to sleep. 15/03 07:00 • Woke up with facial pain around eyes, across forehead, across face jaw to jaw and at the nape of my neck. • Pain made me feel nauseous. • Took two soluble Solpadine Max which has dulled the pain but still feeling pressure between and beneath my eyes and my right ear. • Had to blow nose to clear mucus. 21/03 11:00-15:00 • Facial ache worsened throughout the morning to throbbing pain, concentrated above sinuses, along the sides of the nose and at temples. • Took one soluble Solpadine max at 2:30pm. 22/03 07:00 • Woke up with dull aching to the right side of my face running from temple to jaw and across to side of nose. Right ear has occasional drum banging sound in it. • Reluctant to take pain relief, will see if it progresses. • 10am took one soluble Solpadine and ache persisting. ‘Drumming’ sound ceased. 27/03 18:00 – 22:00 • Facial ache worsened throughout the evening to throbbing nauseating pain, concentrated above sinuses, along the sides of the nose and at temples. • Couldn’t sleep by about 9pm due to pain took 2 soluble Solpadine max which dulled the pain enough to go to sleep. 29/03 13:00 – • Right ear drum banging sound back on and off throughout the afternoon. • Feels like a sore throat is developing feeling a bit full around glands on neck and lethargy 30/03-31/03 • Swollen glands, sore throat and lethargy.
