NOtd your history of getting tinnitus while walking, hearing footsteps like echo as if there is some water in ear, feeling uneasy below external ear line, wants to know the cause. The commonest cause as you have mentioned is build-up of fluid inside tympanic membrane that is ear-drum. Usually this is secondary to changes in nose and throat, effected Eustachian tube, forceful blowing of nose and so on. This can be diagnosed by the following ways. ENT endoscopy for ear, nose an throat will confirm the diagnosis. The treatment is as follows: Do not blow the nose. No ear drops should be used as the fluid develops inside the ear drum in middle ear cavity where the drops do not reach. Antihistamine, decongestants. Anti-inflammatory. Antibiotic if there is any evidence of an infection. Bed rest. Continue the treatment till cured.
