What Causes Tiny Piece Of Tongue Hanging Off At The Bottom Of Tongue?
i have this tiny peice of my tongue hanging off the bottom of it, its about the size of a grain of rice (a little smaller) i think i got it because i kept scratching it with my front teeth, at first it was a little bubble thing, now its hanging off, cause i kept scratching. What should do?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that the tiny piece of tongue hanging at the bottom of it that is small then the size of grain is not a piece of tongue rather it is a fold of mucous membrane that is also known as Plica Fimbriata... This fold of mucous membrane is not due to biting or scratching with the tongue but is a normal anatomical structure and you need not to worry as there is nothing that needs to be treated.. If you take a closer look you will find one more similar fold on the other half of the midline of tongue... In case if there is any pain or swelling associated with it you can consult an Oral Physician and get it evaluated and then can be treated accordingly..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
