What Causes Tiny Red Bumps Above Upper Lip Area?

My 5 yr old son woke up this morning with a purple looking rash above his lip like a mustache. A closer look shows tiny red dots. No other symptoms. No pain, ithing or burning. Please help. Should we be worried? He also has been very active as we have been with family. Could it be broken blood vessel?
