What Causes Tiny Red Dots On Chest, Arms And Legs?

I am 24 years old, Caucasian. Over the past two years I have noticed tiny red dots on my chest, arms and legs. Some are very small and some a bit larger. They do not change when pressure is applied. The smaller ones are flat and tend to have a few more surrounding them while the larger ones are raised and spread out. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, these tiny red dots are possible petechiae. Persistent inflammation or infections are the most common causes especially those related to lungs. To me, you should get a full blood count, together with a complete biochemistry panel, including liver / kidney function test, bleeding / coagulation time, pT-time, etc. Discuss with your caring doctor for confirmatory diagnostic tests in your case.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
