Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My big toenail has started coming off. It started at the cuticle and now is split and fully loose on one of the sides. I have not injured it and have no yellowing or puss or pain or anything? What could this be and how do I treat it? Should I be soaking it in some kind of scrub? Not sure what kind of infection it could be or if it is one. Like I say, no visible difference except the nail is coming off out of nowhere! Also my feet have gotten really dry and I m scared because I don t know if it s related. Is that the problems way of spreading? Thanks.
hi. there are several causes of losing of nails, but for your symptoms (dry skyn, no pain or swelling) you should seek first for a fungical cause, if a fungus is causing the affection, nails appear with a rugged striated surface, but you must go to see a physician for treatment or to discard another causes (autoimmune, nutritional, melanomas etc)
