What Causes Tooth Pain And Fever With White Bumps On The Tongue?

My daughter is 10 hrs old was complaining about her back bottom tooth hurting and that it was loose. She got a fever on Monday. On the way home from our weekend getaway tuesday her molar was stuff to her gum. Still continued with fever and pain. Noticed that her permanent molar was coming out. She's now complaining that her throat and tongue hurts her. I do see lil white bumps on ger tongue. I have been given her some junior advil for pain and fever. Could she have a abscess tooth at this age.

Hello and Welcome to Health Care Magic,
I have been through your query and i can understand your concern about your daughter.

I guess you have written 10years age, This is the age of mixed dentition in a child as milk teeth start to fall off and permenant teeth erupts below them.
Sometimes teething can cause fever. However, i guess the loose tooth might be impinging the tooth as well which could have caused the pain.

The Loose Tooth or Primary tooth have resorbed roots which makes the lower portion of crown sharp which might also have irritated the tongue causing these white lesions on the tongue.

Moreover, The milk tooth are less likely to have Periapical Pathologies as the roots of the tooth are resorbing, however, they can develop furcal Pathology or Abscess which is only possible in cases of deeply carious tooth.

I would suggest you to have a visit to Pediatric Dentist inorder to eliminate any other cause and remove the involved tooth. Meanwhile you can give your daughter analgesics and antibiotics syrups but in Age specific doses. Moreover, Maintain the good oral hygiene.

Thanks and Regards,

Dr Himayun
