What Causes Trace Of Blood In Urine While Having High BP And Diabetes?
Why do I have very small amounts of blood in my urine? I am a 43 year old woman. It s been 3 years that I got my lap band. I have always been irregular with my mental periods. I do have high blood presser and diabetic. I also only had one miscarriage.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Presence of blood in urine can occur in hematuria and hemoglobinuria. Some tests need to be done on urine to detect the presence of blood in urine. Along with tests to detect blood, microscopic examination of urine needs to be done to look for presence of red blood cells and/ or dysmorphic red blood cells in urine. Presence of dysmorphic red blood cells in urine is indicative of disease / abnormalities in the kidney. Diabetes and hypertension can affect the kidney and hence lead to blood in urine. A miscarriage in past is not likely to be associated with blood in stools. Thus, consult a physician for clinical assessment, investigations (urine examination) and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
