What Causes Traces Of Temazepam And Oxazepam In Lab Test?
My husband recently tested positive for temazepam and oxazepam on a drug test.He is not facing very serious consequences.He takes nexium but that is all he is prescribed.How could this happen?He recently quit chewing tobacco and sometimes takes melatonin to sleep.Thank you.

Hi, Drug screen done by routine methods is not accurate and gives a high rate of false positives (Drug absent but test positive) or false negatives (Drug present but test negative). I think the above test has given a false positive. Nexium is known to give false positive for marijuana or THC. Melatonin is not known to cause any false positive. It is normally produced in the body and only in deficiency it is prescribed. Different bodies react differently as metabolism is different in each individual. Get a confirmatory test done by gas chromatography as it is very specific. Hope it helps. Any further queries, do ask again. Dr. Jyothi BL
