Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, next birthday i will be 70. over the last 15 years i will have hand trembling. if i am stressed or tired it is worse. i can go for quite a long time without trembling. i at one time had a doctor tell me that this was a case of palsy and was treatable. however i have had a nurse practitioner tell me there is really no such thing as palsy. any thoughts
This unintentional trembling of hands is also known as essential tremor which is fairly common. The exact cause of essential tremor is not known. There is no cure of essential tremor but there are treatments that may help relieve your symptoms.
If these trembling of your hands are interfering with your daily activities then you should talk to your doctor who may prescribe you beta blockers or some anti convulsant medications such as Primidone which will reduce the excitability of the nerve cells.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
