What Causes Tremors In Body After Stopping Oxycodone?

Was on oxycodone for 3 years quit cold turkey at 300mg per day. Have damage at 6 levels in my back. After 6 months I started having something like seizures during the day. In the morning I would awake shaking all over as well as the seizures. Several specialists have tried various medications. Current doctor has me on 2mg of subutex twice daily. Not 100% effective.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Oxycodone is an opioid drug and you have used the drug for 3 years. You stopped the drug cold turkey at 300 mg per day. Now after six months you have symptoms like shakiness of body, seizures etc. Such symptoms are possibly occurring due to long term withdrawal symptoms of opioid dependence. Such type of withdrawal can occur even after moths of stopping the drug, it is also called as Protracted Withdrawal. Subutex is Buprenorphine and the drug is good replacement drug to prevent withdrawal symptoms. You have been asked to take 2 mg twice daily and still you have such symptoms. In such case I would advise you to consult your psychiatrist again for any dose adjustments of drug. If symptoms of shakiness are severe then along with Subutex drugs like Clonidine can be used. The drug helps to reduce autonomic symptoms of withdrawal. Consult your doctor for prescription of this drug.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
