Could Trench Mouth be a precusor to Leukemia? I got a severe case of it recently and although it seemed like thrush but it wasn't. The pain was immense! I could actually feel the peridontal ligament move as i swallowed. It's since gotten much better but I'd like to see a hematologist and get a thorough exam now. Please advise
Trench mouth is a candidal infection caused due to poor oral hygiene. A thrush or whitish lesion appears on the tongue due to poor tongue cleaning in Trench mouth. It does not induce any pain but causes bad breathe and increase in bacterial count. If you have pain is due to some other reason. Secondly, periodontal ligament is a thin intact lining around roots of the tooth surrounded by bone. The ligament cannot move anywhere and is only visible in the radiograph. You are having a psychological phobia. Before meeting a hematologist visit a dentist to get clear status of your oral health.
I would suggest you to get a thorough clinical examination done by a Dentist, Take tab brufen for pain relief, at home take lukewarm saline rinses and antiseptic mouthwash rinses, take multivitamin suplements, maintain a good oral hygiene.. Take care!
