What Causes Trichomoniasis?
i recently was diagnosed trichomonas. I developed symptoms about a month ago. I was treated. I have one patrner for the last 4 years. Before dating we were both tested STI HIV Syphilis and so on.I belived i contracted it from him. His test was negative. How can this be. Thanks.

STDs are more than 30 in numbers and are caused by different organisms. Trichomonas is one of the STDs caused by a protozoa Trichomonas Vaginalis. In men it can remain without any symptoms. Blood test for Syphilis and other STDs and HIV did not rule out Trichomoniasis .
Still there is a chance for you to acquire this from your partner or it could have been there even before 4 years.

First of all I would make clear that incubation period of trichomonas is 5 to 28 days, it means by this time, infected person would get symptoms. Also, it is not possible that for it may lie dormant for years.
Yes, it is true that trichomoniasis can spread through non-sexual routes. Other routes are-
Damp infected towels
Infected bedding or bathing suits
Contaminated douche nozzles or specula
Toilet seats used by infected individuals. Here the protozoa find their way easily into the vagina.
Infected swimming pool water
You may have been infected through non sexual routes.
