Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have a twisting grabbing feeling in my fight foot that has come on without obvious cause. I do have a drop big toe in that foot resulting from nerve damage after back surgery 15 years ago. I did have plantar faciitis and a calcium bone spur last summer. Since recovery from that I ve had no issues until this recent development. What could this be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. *Twisting /grabbing sensation can be due to sodium , calcium/vitamine D defeciency - after over exertion/ tarsal tunnel syndrome./ irritation of supplying nerve due to pressure by a bony spur Or at spinal level- exaggerated accilreration of previous problem over the period. * You should try with.. Gentle massage of foot/hot pack/extension of foot/ avoid exposure to cold pain medicine over the counter. * If no relief.. consult an orthopedic doctor for possible nurogenic cause due to nerve pressure. After detailed physical examination&few investigations like blood levels of vitamine D, minerals &MRI... he would come to exact cause to offer you specific treatment. (Medicines, steroid injection, physiotherapy or surgery as per need.) Thanks
