What Causes Twitching In Head And Headache When Diagnosed With ADD?

Hi, I have noticed my 9 year old son has a twitch to his head of late. In the last several days I ve noticed it more. I asked him if he feels weird or anything out of the ordinary and he told me that the left side of his head feels heavier sometimes and that s why he twitches his head. After visiting with him tonight for about 15 min I asked him if he noticed he was twitching. He said not all the time but sometimes he does and that sometimes he notices the heaviness on the right side as well. But not as often as the left. He is diagnosed with A.D.D. and I didn t know if this is one of the tics that can happen or not or if this is something I need to be concerned about and get him in to be seen. A couple of weeks ago he had complained of a headache and ended up throwing up multiple times and then was fine. He did this again 2 days later. I found that on both of those days he had eaten hot dogs for lunch and then got sick. Since then he hasn t had any issues. Thank you for your time and help!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The recurrent headache with episodes of twitching , vomiting does not sound to be normal tics at all.

* There must be underlying

@ focus of seizure event in the brain parenchyma
@ hydrocephalus with widening of ventricles and compression of surrounding structures
@ certain conditions manifesting at late childhood , whose roots are in the development stage related

Most likely which manifest in this pattern.

* I would suggest to get him checked with Pediatric neurologist in this regard and get best further guidelines of care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
