General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In lying down position the gravitational force on body is equally distributed. This causes increased venous blood return to heart which starts to work more causing the symptoms after some time, it gets used to the situation and symptoms go. Please get your heart checked to exclude other causes. Try to meditate and body relaxation (yoga or Tai chi) would help you out of the physiological issue.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
