What Causes Twitching In The Left Eye?

Hi Doc. You know those twitches you get in your eye? I have those on my left eye for the past three days, but these ones put my eye out of focus. It s like it goes independent and moves on its own, and when it does this I lose orientation as I lose focus of anything I m looking/trying to focus on. It happens for a few seconds, and repeatedly at certain times... Any idea what I could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

Twitching occurs due to eye strain, mainly from long time use of phones, computers at work, stress, lack of sleep, excess consumption of caffeine, alcohol or due to medications. I advice you to ,
- have proper sleep
- Limit use of computer & phones
- avoid alcohol, caffeine, tobacco
- Stress free life & rest
- eye massage following warm compress
- antihistamines eyedrops if any irritant is present

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
