What Causes Twitching Of Cheek Post Apicoectomy Procedure?

I have a quivering/twitching of left cheek and lip when I try to smile. I had an apicoectomy last April and have had this problem along with tightness since. Will this get any better? My endodontist says he has never seen this before. Is there anything I should be doing for it

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the Apicoectomy procedure is an Endodontic surgical method of removing impacted tooth root with sealing of the root canal to cure the symptoms. It is likely that possible nerve damage to maxillary or mandibular division of V th or VII th cranial nerve might be possible giving twitch to left cheek and lip when trying to smile. In my clinic, after thorough clinical assessment, I do recommend to consult an expert neurologist for further evaluation and management guidelines accordingly.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
