Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 14 year old daughter has had at least two episodes of twitching/muscle tightening/convulsing in her sleep. Not voilently, yet enough to clearly notice. When it happens she can be awakened. When I tried to wake her I couldn t and her body was limp, like she was still asleep. When she finally awoke she was disoriented and didn t know what was going on. I thought maybe she was sleepwalking the first time it happened, but it happened a second time and after reading about sleepwalking I m wondering if my room she s having some sort of seizure. What do you think?
Yes, you are right, what you explained looks like seizures, especially the twitching followed by confusion is quite suggestive of seizure disorder. So I personally think that she should be seen by a neurologist for proper assessment and management. Mostly seizures occurring at sleep are not very serious.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
