What Causes Twitching Sensation In The Knees While On Seroquel?
My mom is 84, in assisted living memory with Alzheimer s. She has been falling a lot recently which seems to be from a twitch like movement that buckles her knees. Doesn t happen everyday. Don t know the dosage but she takes Seroquel 3 times a day. This is the only med she is on. Could the Seroquel be causing this side effect? If so, I would like to stop the med due to recent falls. Not sure she needs this med any longer.
Yes in few patients it may cause muscle cramps or spasm due to weakness or it may be a part of neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Fever, muscle, stiffness/pain/tenderness/weakness, severe tiredness, severe confusion, sweating, fast/irregular heartbeat, dark urine, signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine) are the symptoms of neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
Please consult your treating doctor he will examine and treat you with alternate medicine. Sudden stopping of this drug lead rigidity, tremors etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
