What Causes Two Dark Spots Of .080 Diameter On Left Areola?
I m male, 58 yrs old, recently I noticed two spots on my left areola each about .080in in diameter. I have no pain or itch associated with this. I did notice them about 6 months ago for the first time and scraped them off with my finger nail. No bleeding or pain when I did this? One is nearly black in color the other lighter brown. I also noticed that the right side is starting to show one as well. What the heck do I have?
hi. i have read your question and understand your concern.
dark brown/black asymptomatic spots which were easily scraped off without any bleeding are suggestive of dermatosis papulosa nigra (DPN)
DPNs are a common finding especially among the middle aged and elderly. these develop due to insulin resistance, which in turn is due to our lifestyle. they are benign growths and do not cause any harm.
i suggest you get your serum insulin (fasting) levels done.
also you can visit your dermatolgist and get them removed.
hope this helps. for any further questions please get back to us. thanks.
