What Causes Two Menstrual Cycles In One Month Along With Spotting?

I have had my menstrual cycle twice in one month , both within 2 weeks of each other and now I am spotting with dark clots. I am having the symptoms of tiredness bloating(severely) and eating non stop - craving foods and not getting full . weight gain I am 47 years old and have not been through menopause yet could this be the start of it ?

Hi,

Two menstrual cycles in one month along with spotting,bloating and food craving suggest hormonal imbalance due to the onset of menopause.The bleeding will slowly reduce and lead to complete cessation of menstrual cycle. Due to reduction in estrogen levels, symptoms such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, mood changes and sleep disturbances, calcium deficiency occur. Estrogen therapy as a part of hormone replacement therapy is the suggested treatment. Due to certain contraindications for use of estrogen, general assessment is required before starting the drug.
