Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Uncontrollable Body Movements In Children?
I have a 16 and a half year old son. He started having uncontrollabe body movements about a year and a half ago. I have taken him to a nuerologist and he s had an eeg and a 24hr eeg that he wore home, but it became loose and tangled. The doctor determined that he had tics . However, the tics started out as small little jerks and progressed to the whole body and him having no control of his body for up to 10 seconds. And now, 6 months after seeing the doctor, they are increasing dramatically (even during the day and morning which has rarely happened). Should we seek a second opinion? And the doctor said he would not recommend medication for the tics . Should we now consider putting him on medication? This is very hard on him and I know that it is emabarrassing for him. What should I do?
Yes, for sure. You should another medical opinion as soon as possible. In the meanwhile, you can give him the prescribed medication to control these tics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
