Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had a stomach virus for the past four days. Today I saw medical help with anti-nausea medicine and a liter of fluid. Several hours after being home I was freezing and had the chills, shaking badly. It was cool in the house from fans but 93° outdoors. Wrapping up at many blankets and falling asleep for it to pass. What would cause this? Thanks, Cheryl
Noted your history about having stomach virus, medical help in the form of anti-nausea medicine and a liter of fluid, severe chills after returning home. The commonest cause of chills are as follows: Closed infection. Malaria. Urinary tract infection. Gastroenteritis. Pneumonia and so on. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor again and get a proper clinical evaluation and investigations of blood, urine and stool, X-ray chest and Ultrasonography of abdomen to get a proper diagnosis so that a proper management as per the cause found can be made. Till then continue the medications given.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
